Herb Workshop: Using Kitchen Herbs


They smell so-o-o-o good and they have lots of health benefits, too, but what on earth do I do with them? Learn how to use fresh herbs in cooking and teas, how to dry herbs and store them, and how to infuse vinegars and honey. Sample mint tea and other herb-enhanced dishes and take home a jar of herbed vinegar.

Rick Bayless cooking demonstration at Paramount Theatre


Aurora Library to host Rick Bayless cooking demonstration at Paramount Theater.

Award-winning Chicago chef, restaurateur, cookbook author and television personality Rick Bayless will appear at Aurora’s Paramount Theatre on Sept. 13 for a cooking demonstration, tasting and book signing.

The Aurora Public Library is hosting the program featuring two chefs who specialize in Latin cooking to highlight Hispanic Heritage Month. The event will begin at 1 p.m. when Chicago chef Dudley Nieto takes the stage to speak about regional differences in Mexican cooking.

Bayless, star of public televisions Mexico One Plate at a Time, will demonstrate his trademark Mexican cooking peppered with stories about the dishes he is preparing, his travels to Mexico, and the history behind the traditional Mexican recipes he loves.

Geneva Green Market Opens Thursday!


Geneva Green MarketThe Geneva Green Market, the area’s only Farmers Market requiring all produce and products be locally grown within a 200-mile radius of Geneva IL, is kicking off their second season on Thursday, June 26 at their permanent location along the west side of the Fox River at 75 N. River Lane in Geneva from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Join us for opening ceremonial plantings at 9:00 a.m. with Geneva officials and friends, followed by cooking demonstrations and more…

Visitors will see familiar faces from last year and some new vendors as well. Products include field-fresh, minimally processed, sustainably grown, produce ranging from vegetables, herbs and fruits to meats and dairy products and more!
